In the US, we’re always told to feel bad for the “farmers” in our country when trump tariffs affect them, or the weather ruins their crops, or to get support for subsidies to bail them out when the weather or economic realities affect them. We’re told they feed us the food we eat. We’re told we’d starve if not for them.
But is this a realistic assessment of what most farmers provide our economy? In reality, most farmers in the US grow two crops, corn and soybeans, and I don’t know about you but I don’t eat any of the corn or soybeans they grow.
In this video, we’ll explore the true story of the role of farmers in our economy and how they impact the environment, our health, and our food system.
