Look What the Critters Did to This Kitchen

Obviously it’s possible to cook without fossil fuel because humans have been doing it forever. At Dancing Rabbit some people cook with propane, one of about two ways DR members allow themselves to use fossil fuel. But the Critters, a subcommunity at DR, choose to cook without fossil fuel. In this video Kyle, of my Kyle’s Crazy House video, gives us a tour of the Critter Kitchen, a kitchen designed for community and sustainability.

To follow what Kyle and the other “Critters” are doing at DR, check out the Critter Blog.

Couple Retrofits Their Truck To Run On Wood!

At Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage, villagers are always trying out new ways to reduce their impact on the planet. Two of my neighbors, Rae and Aaron, wanted to go on a road trip around the country to help with activism around stopping the use of fossil fuel. It seemed a bit hypocritical to be road tripping on gasoline though, so they built a system from scratch that would allow them to drive on a renewable resource–waste wood. They learned to weld and use a plasma torch, and they built almost everything from waste metal and materials. It’s not a simple system, but they were up for the challenge.

Making a Nouveau Wine from Homegrown Organic Grapes Part 1

Nouveau wines are native to the Beaujolais region of France and are known for their fruity freshness. They are one of the first wines to be ready to drink and they have to be drunk soon because they lack some of the preservatives that other red wines have, such as oak tannins.

Every season I make a Nouveau wine from some of my grapes. In the next few videos I’ll take you through the process.
